Pot Has Become Easier to Study

I can’t recall if I mentioned to you before that a coworker and I submitted a proposal to study recreational marijuana use in legalized states. But if I didn’t mention it, we did submit one. We are still waiting to hear. (But if you ask me, it should be funded.)

Shortly after we submitted the proposal I read this article on how pot has become easier to study. Good! Because we want to study it!

Did you know that Delaware became the 19th state to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana?

And the even bigger news…on June 22, the White House announced that cannabis researchers will no longer have to submit proposals to the U.S. Public Health Service which is huge! This significantly cuts back the red tape.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that most of the 75 edible marijuana products researchers purchased in LA, San Francisco, and Seattle inaccurately labeled the potency of the THC in the product. Around 60% of the products had less THC than advertised, while around 20% had more. The researchers attributed this to a lack of industry standards and regulations.

In another study, researchers tested drivers after 10 minutes of drinking and 10 minutes of inhaling pot. They found that drivers with a blood concentration of THC of 13.1 showed a level of weaving similar to drivers with a breath-alcohol concentration of 0.08%.

Interesting stuff, right?

Fun Fact: Did you know that up to 25 million people suffer from sleep apnea? Most of these people are men and the reason is due to obesity. A new study found that men with sleep apnea were twice as likely to be depressed as men without it.

Oh! And I forgot to tell you! Callie got a new flyball PR while running for Heidi in Athens a couple of weekends ago! 4.11! Fast LRD! I’m such a proud mom!

So, we took a helicopter ride over Lake Tahoe. It was A’s idea. And it was phenomenal!  You could see 77 feet down into the water! It is some of the bluest water I have ever seen! And our pilot was great! We had sooo much fun! I highly recommend doing a “city tour” by air!
