Have you ever wondered what “VO2 max” actually stood for? It is the maximum volume of oxygen the muscles can consume per minute.
According to Jason Karp, Ph.D., running coach and author of Running a Marathon for Dummies, “VO2 max represents the size of your aerobic engine. It’s the rate at which oxygen can be used.”
Basically, the higher your VO2 max, the faster the rate in which oxygen can be used, and the faster you can run. A higher level of VO2 max leads to better performance.
Now, you are in the know!
On Monday I drove up to Mebane, NC for private lessons for both the girls (I wish we lived closer! Julie is a fabulous trainer!!) AND for Envy to have a puppy play date with 3 of her litter mates! We got 4 of the 6 pups together! It was such a blast! I’m sure you will be able to tell from the tons of pictures I am about to post! The merlies are the sisters 🙂 I can’t wait for us to do this again!
And there may be more pictures posted later. 😉
Fact of the Day: Did you know that people who regularly run, cycle, swim or compete in sports have fewer problems falling or staying asleep and feel better-rested than the sedentary regardless of what time they hit the gym. 78% of vigorous exercisers get a good night’s sleep while only 8% have trouble falling asleep.
More Christmas cookies! These are another one of our traditions! We make reindeer cookies! Festive, right?? And super easy! I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!!
– Favorite sugar cookie recipe (or break-and-bakes if you’re in a hurry!)
– Chocolate covered pretzels
– Red and green M&Ms
– Chocolate chips
– Bake sugar cookies according to recipe.
– Immediately after you take the cookies out of the oven, press two chocolate covered pretzels near the top of the cookie for antlers, two chocolate chips for eyes and a red M&M for the nose. You must do this quickly before the cookies cool!
